Different Between USA and Europe

The different approach between USA and Europe

Mouldillness Mycotoxins USA Flag
I have been dealing with mould and bacteria across the world for over 35 years and initially trained in UK via Porton Down experts, Sweden followed by extensive training and certification in USA. Yes, I am a leading expert in UK and one of a few in USA.
Having helped form the USA response to mould and attempts in UK I can show the benefits and failures of both approaches.

USA approach

If you have the money or are adequately insured your route following suspected mould illness  would be as follows:
  1. Personally assess health and potential for mould or building related illness
  2. Identify if you have medical or home insurance.
  3. Identify any possible policy exclusions.
  4. Approach leading medical experts in mould illness.
  5. Undertake specialist blood tests and analysis by toxicologists.
  6. Undertake nasal swabs for MRSA type bacteria bridging blood brain barrier.
  7. Undertake nasal swabs for MRSA type bacteria bridging blood brain barrier.
  8. Confirm diagnosis and evoke policy for home restoration.
  9. Engage decontamination expert.
  10. Assess home contents for remediation or disposal.
  11. Move out at first opportunity.
  12. Expect decontamination costs in excess of $150,000 for average small home.
  13. Engage IEP Indoor Environmental Professional ) to monitor who will likely fail clearance.
  14. Monitor health with repeat blood analysis and brain scans, genetic tests.
  15. Re test home and attempt decontamination clearance by IEP.
  16. If your not insured expect a cost in excess of $100,000 to cover medical bills

UK approach

  1. Identify you may have building related illness.
  2. Speak with doctor and likely be sent away with aspirin.
  3. Be told mould is natural and not a problem.
  4. Identify Nutritionist and or functional medicine practitioner.
  5. Undertake a urine test which usually confirms mycotoxin present.
  6. Purchase vitamins, binders.
  7. Possible blood or urine  tests to identify vitamin deficiency.
  8. Continue to live in the property.
  9. Purchase infra-red sauna, emf pads.
  10. Notify insurers and be told there is a mould exclusion and or they will send around experts in decontamination who will apparently decontaminate everything within hours by fogging.(definitely leave worse)
  11. Receive a bunch of flowers to confirm decontamination was successful.
  12. Realise your and other occupants’ health will likely deteriorate post treatment or over time as contamination and exposure remains.

You will be aware of UK shortfalls and difficulties in treatment but  but there are simple alternatives.

The following historic common-sense advice is accredited to Paracelsus often referred to the Father of Toxicology (1493-1541)

“What is there that is not poison? All things are poison and nothing is without poison. Solely the dose determines that a thing is not a poison.”

The following historic common-sense advice is accredited to Paracelsus often referred to the Father of Toxicology (1493-1541)Today the Medical profession can add other criteria such as Genetics to the dose and reaction , (See link regarding modern thinking) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4942381/

Many of today’s illnesses are the result of exposure to toxins or inflammagens in our homes and unless the dose (or exposure) is reduced you cannot reasonably expect to see benefit from any form of treatment.

We will work with you and provide support to your medics, nutritionist or functional medicine professional.Once you reasonably assume you have mould or building related illness, we can work to identify the causation and remove or dilute the exposure (dose). This approach will show major benefits in treatment of symptoms quickly. From this approach you should realise treatment without identifying the cause of illness will not be successful unless dose or risk reduction decontamination is undertaken.
