Mycotoxins & Bacteria

Mycotoxins

After reading the descriptions of Mycotoxins you might believe they were indeed the major health concern regarding diagnosed mould illness. The fact is they may only be responsible for as little as 12% of symptoms with other contaminates singularly responsible for perhaps 40% of negative health impact.

We test for mycotoxins in the home but significantly far more agents than the small panel provided by Great Palins and Real Time laboratories in USA .More importantly we also investigate and analyse other and more important human pathogens.

Several years ago I trained in Homeland Defense in the USA as part of a Hazmat training course. During the course I was issued with the following pocket guide to emergency response to terrorist CBR event you will note at the bottom of the page T2 mycotoxin is listed as a WMD and having the same moderate lethality as EBOLA.

This government booklet shows response and risks of possible ,likely terrorist CBRN attack.

Bacteria

Bacteria are now seen as a major contributor to building related illness and many new species previously identified in the open environment have now been identified indoors. Though advanced laboratory analysis we can identify these, some of which are now proven to be several times more likely for CIRS and building related illness than Mycotoxins. It is now known that bacteria and mould, although, do converse through VOCs.
